Walk-in and Same Day Lie Detector Tests

Clients often ask us about walk-in and same day polygraph appointments.

Here is a breakdown of why these types of “rush” appointments will produce inaccurate results.

PREPARATION

Preparation for an exam begins 18 to 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. If the person being tested does not properly prepare for the exam, test results can be affected. The following is a partial list of preparation instructions.  Your examiner will provide a more detailed list.

  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Eating a normal meal before the exam
  • Avoiding illegal drugs and alcohol
  • Instructions for medications
  • Wearing proper attire
  • Caffeine in moderation
  • Avoid discussing test issues with anyone on exam day
  • Avoid arguments on exam day or the night before

SURPRISE

The person being tested should have AT LEAST 2 OR 3 DAYS NOTICE that the exam will take place.  In fact, a few week’s notice is preferable. This will allow for some dissipation of intense emotions (anger, resentment, surprise) prior to the day of the exam. These emotions can affect the test results.

SCHEDULING ISSUES

Our examiners travel extensively, so availability at any given test location can vary from a few days to a few months, depending on the testing location.  General availability for a particular examiner can be found on each Testing Location page.
