ABOUT OUR EXAMINERS
Members of the Global Polygraph Network are NOT average examiners. We don’t take short-cuts or provide sub-standard exams. At GPN you will find the best examiners in the industry.
GPN Members must complete a thorough screening process before they are accepted as Members. This screening process includes an in-depth application process, verification of credentials, and a Quality Control review of recent exams. Additional training is provided to our Members as needed. About half of our examiner applications are rejected because the applicants can not meet our standards. Here are a few of our requirements for Members.
1. All Members must be graduates of APA Accredited training facilities. They cannot be self-taught or have completed questionable training.
2. All Members must attend regular advanced training (continuing education).
3. All Members agree to allow their charts to be independently evaluated when results are in question. Most examiners do not allow this practice.
4. All Members must administer exams to APA and/or ASTM standards.
5. All Members must use APA Validated Testing methods to achieve the highest accuracy.
6. Members must offer appointments to clients within 30 days of registration, unless an exception is noted on the Examiner Profile.
7. All Member fees must be disclosed in advance to the customer. These fees can be found on each individual Test Location page. There will be no surprises.
NOTE: Most of our Members provide testing at multiple locations, so it is likely you will see the same examiner’s ID number appear for several locations.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR EXAMINERS
Q – How do I schedule an appointment?
A – After identifying the Test Location where you would like to have the test administered, click on “Schedule Exam” on the individual Test Location page. Once you complete the online registration form, the local examiner will contact you directly to schedule an appointment.
Q – Where do your examiners offer testing?
A – We have 500 testing locations worldwide. Click HERE for a list of locations and prices.
Q – Who will my examiner be?
A – Each Member’s credentials can be found on the individual Test Location page that he/she handles for us. We do not release the name and contact information of the Member prior to receiving an exam registration. Additional questions about a particular examiner can be sent to info@polytest.org.
Q – Where can I find my examiner’s credentials?
A – Each Examiner’s credentials can be viewed on the individual Test Location page. In many cases the examiner’s Curriculum Vitae (CV) can also be found on these pages. We publish each examiner’s experience on the Test Location page, including years of experience, number of exams completed, special certifications, minimum age allowed, etc.
Q – Why don’t we publish the examiner’s name and contact information on our website?
A – Because we are not the Yellow Pages, and we are not a simple Directory of examiners. Only half of our applicants are declined membership because they do not meet our standards. Clients must register for an exam with us before we connect you to our local examiner.
Q – What should I look for when choosing an examiner?
A – Click this LINK for the answer.
Q – Does GPN offer any guarantees?
A – Yes. Click HERE to review GPN’s Guarantee and Refund Policy.
Q – I noticed that the examiner’s ID number is the same for several locations. Does that mean the same examiner covers those locations too?
A – Yes. Most of our Members cover multiple testing locations.
Q – What are the examiner’s hours?
A – The examiner’s available hours can be found on each individual Test Location page.
Q – How do I check my examiner’s availability?
A – Since availability changes rapidly, you must email us at info@polytest.org requesting availability for a particular test location. Be sure to include your preferred testing location, keeping in mind that the quoted availability may only be valid for a very short period. Average booking time across all 500 GPN testing locations is 7 to 10 days, but this varies widely.
Q – Are your examiners APA certified?
A – Yes. All GPN examiners are certified by APA accredited training facilities.
Q – Are your examiners licensed?
A – Many states and most countries do not offer polygraph licensing. In locations where a license is required, the Member will be properly licensed in that jurisdiction.
Q – What equipment does my examiner use?
A – The examiner’s equipment can be found on the individual Test Location page. All of our examiners use computerized equipment. However, one brand of equipment is not any “better” than any other, and test accuracy has nothing to do with the brand of equipment used. An experienced examiner can use any brand of equipment reliably. For example, a skilled carpenter can build a high quality house using any brand of hammer. It’s a matter of personal preference.
Q – Why does my examiner require a second deposit?
A – Our Members travel extensively (worldwide) to provide services to our clients. The Member incurs significant costs to do so (which is included in the exam fee), so he/she must collect a second deposit (“reservation fee”) when an exam is scheduled to ensure they do not lose money in the event a client cancels an appointment with them. If a client cancels the request before an appointment is scheduled, then no “reservation fee” is required, although the initial deposit (referral fee) is forfeited.
Q – Can the examiner come to my house for the exam?
A – That is up to the individual examiner. You can find whether the Member provides In-Home testing on each individual Location Page, noting that prices for these exams (if available) will usually be different than the price to come to one of our offices. It would be client’s responsibility to provide a suitable private space for the exam.
Q – What if I want an examiner with more experience?
A – Our Members have varying levels of experience, which can be found on each individual Test Location page. By searching other locations, you will likely find a Member with an acceptable level of experience, but that will often require more travel on your part.
Q – Do the examiners offer discounts?
A – In some cases they do offer discounts. This information can be found in the examiner’s profile on the individual Test Location page.
Q – Do I need a court-qualified examiner to handle my test?
A – A court-qualified examiner has had his/her testimony about polygraph testing admitted as evidence in a trial or hearing by a judge or arbitrator. This approval does not guarantee future admissibility, however, but it does make it easier for the examiner’s testimony and test results to be admitted in future proceedings.
Q – Can I find out whether my examiner is male or female?
A – This information can be found in the Member’s profile. The examiner’s ID number includes a “M” or “F” to designate their gender.
Q – Will I receive a written report of the test results?
A – Yes, of course. All of our examiner will provide you with a detailed written report of the results. The report typically includes the purpose of the exam, the relevant questions asked, the answers given, and the analysis of the charts (test results). Results are usually presented as NDI/NSR (no deception), DI/SR (deception), INC (inconclusive), or NO (no opinion).
Q – What does it mean when an examiner is PCSOT Certified?
A – This acronym stands for “Post Conviction Sex Offender Testing” and is a specialized certification for polygraph examiners who provide testing for persons convicted of sex crimes who are required to take periodic polygraph exams to verify issues surrounding their parole/probation and/or therapy/treatment. This certification process requires the examiner to complete a 40 hour APA-accredited training program and to meet other mandated requirements.
Q – What is the minimum age my examiner will test?
A – The minimum age can be found on the individual Test Location page. This age will vary by examiner and generally ranges from 12 to 16. Anyone under 18 will require written consent from a parent or legal guardian to be tested.
Q – Can I request to have GPN owner Michael Martin administer my exam?
A – Michael handles a number of testing locations throughout NY, PA, OH, NJ, CT, VT, IN, and MD. If his name appears on the individual Test Location page, he will be your examiner. Outside of these locations, you can request a quote for Michael to administer your exam at a different location (worldwide).
Q – Will my examiner take a bribe to change produce the test results I want.
A – Absolutely not. Please do not ask. These are legitimate exams.
